an aluminium rod coated with pvc is fixed in the chuck of a drilling machine. the rod is drilled through three styrofoam cups placed upside down in a row. the cups are fixed to the floor with adhesive tape. the drilling machine is locked in it‘s slowest possible running speed. through the resistence of the styrofoam cups the aluminium rod is rotating almost imperceptibly. the result is a field of short, crackling pulses. against the regular rotation of the drilling machine, the impulses occur irregularly.
